Things to Do After Exams

November 1st, 2016 by Pearson

It’s so close that you can almost taste it! Finals can bring out the worst in students: stress, tiredness and apathy. The only way to get through the trenches is to think of all the super awesome stuff you can do when the stressful times are over. Our after exams bucket list might bring a smile to your face, while you prepare for freedom.

#1. Sleep
Like sweet nectar from a higher being, the ability to go deep into dream land, completely guilt free, should be the first task on your list. Catching up on your lost zzzz’s early into your holiday period also means that you’ll be super energised for all the other activities still to come.

#2. Go Outside
Seriously, get some sun on your skin and feel that fresh air on your face. Nothing screams freedom more than being surrounded by natural elements. You could grab your friends and visit a botanical garden, walk up a hiking trail, roll down a grass hill, pack a picnic and blow some bubbles. The outdoors has endless possibilities on offer. Go and find them.

#3. Spa Day
Male or female, you can’t deny that a full body massage is much needed right about now. After months of stress, a good back, neck and shoulder rub would do just the trick to ease you into your holidays. So why not book your pamper session way in advance? Then it can be that pot of gold at the end of your exam rainbow.

#4. Enjoyable Admin
Have you ever noticed how your brain likes to come up with the most amazing and irrelevant ideas while you’re studying? You may discover a sudden urge to start a veggie garden or paint your room an electric banana colour. Even though this has nothing to do with the English literature you’re supposed to be reading, you can’t help but hold onto those concepts. Once the exams are over, it’s time to filter out the clever ideas from the bizarre, and see them come to life. Consider it some well-deserved ‘me-time’.

#5. Road trip
Round up your buddies and head forth on an adventure! There are so many exquisite destinations in SA that are merely a car ride away. In addition, you’re likely to find several affordable backpackers with superb camping and dormitory accommodation in almost every little town. So why not pack that swimsuit and sunscreen, and let the chill out begin!

Daydreaming is definitely one way to get through the exam blues, but don’t let the amount of holiday time fool you. It’s easy to get sucked into binge watching the latest series. With a little bit of planning, you can ensure that you see at least some of your vac fantasies come to life.
